Gender Reveal {Baby McIntire}

My sister is having a baby!  McIntire #4 is cookin' and we are all so incredibly excited.  Husband and I were voting for a 4th Mac kid, so we're pretty stoked that it's actually happening.

I'm sure you've seen these balloon gender reveals all over Pinterest, but my sister knew that the kids would absolutely love it, so we just had to do it.  They decorated a regular old box to make it look fabulous (seriously though, didn't she do a great job??), gave me the envelope with the secret news from the doctor, and my niece, Cheyenne, wished and prayed for a baby sister.

As you can see by the next progression of photos, Cheyenne was not happy she was not getting a baby sister.  In fact, she was so upset, there was a moment where she exclaimed, "I just can't look at those blue balloons anymore!"  I'm not going to lie, it was pretty entertaining.

Because on the other hand...the boys were STOKED and running around cheering.

 Cheyenne, though...that face of total sadness.  It kills me every time.

But, friends, here's how you do it:

"Ok, guys, if you all smile, you can have a mint after this!"

And that was that.  Smiles from all including Cheyenne for the rest of the day.

Bribing is totally accepted in our family and we're not even ashamed.

Oh, and give each kid their own balloon and they are happy campers.

Then we prayed and released a balloon in baby's honor.

Such a special moment!

I can't help but feel so honored to have been able to photograph this moment for my sister and her family.  I'm brand-spanking new at taking photos with a fancy camera and the fact that she let me be the one to document really meant a lot to me.  I know she would have gotten incredible photos if she had asked one of her photographer friends, but moments like these actually help me learn a lot and I'm really grateful I got to be her photographer for the afternoon (so thank you, sis!).
