While I was in Colorado, some of my siblings and I got the chance to go up Pike's Peak. If you haven't heard of it, look at a can of Coors Light and you'll see it there. :)
This is a 14,115 foot peak in the Rocky mountains. Since it's so high, most people don't actually hike it, but drive it since there is a paved road to the top. We decided to take our time driving, stop at every scenic turnout and take lots of pictures.
This was our first stop and you could actually see our B&B from here. This was at about 8,000 feet.
Apparently Big Foot lives up there...
Our next stop may have been my favorite. It had a gorgeous lake and a beautiful view of the snowy mountains.
We decided to do a little yoga-posing...here's a picture my sister made all Insta-grammy.
Most of the drive had tons of trees, but you eventually get so high that you pass the tree line where the trees can't grow any higher. It looked like you were going to drive right off a cliff at points.
The higher it got, the more chilly it was. We were getting closer and closer to snow!
We reached the top! Oh hey, Kell.
Ok so I was just a little cold...
It was an amaaaazing view.
Husband and I also decided to do ten "x-jacks" at each stop to see how long our recovery time would be because of the elevation. By the time we did them at the top, we were definitely breathing pretty hard. Notice the tracks? You can also take a train up!
You know what's pretty awesome about this hike? One, you can drive it....and two, they sell donuts at the top. That is my kinda hike. They tasted a little like corn dogs (minus the dogs) because of the elevation, but I thought they were pretty good.
And what kind of tourists would we be without taking a cheesy group photo by the sign?
{Happy Hiking!}
