When I was younger, my dream job was to sit at coffee shops and drink fancy cappuccinos while working on my laptop and listening to cool music...
Ok, so that wasn't my dream job back then, but if I could do that every day now - I think I'd be living the good life. Fortunately, I get to do that sooooometimes, but definitely not enough (I want to be a hipster soooo bad sometimes!).
Probably starting in junior high, I decided my dream job was in baseball. I don't know how my love for baseball started, besides the fact that I became obsessed with the Giants, but I wanted to be the game day announcer for the San Francisco Giants.
I mean, that's still a dream job of mine (I even majored in Sports Management in college!), but after dreaming about it for about 14 years and the current announcer, Renel Brooks-Moon is still doing it, I don't think they're interested in someone new. Plus, that woman is LEGIT. And every baseball fan who's been to a game at AT&T Park would say the same. She's a boss and trumps all men who do her same job. That woman NAILS IT.
I did get to announce for a baseball team one summer in college, though, AND I got to meet one of the Giants radio announcers, Mike Krukow, when he came to the game! That was a dream come true and SUCH a fun job. He told me I was a very talented announcer (insert inner scream) and I felt like I was on my way to the Giants staff roster (which, I sorta was...but that's a story for another day...).
I guess you could say it's still my dream job...I mean, I wouldn't be upset if somehow Renel was reading this post and decided to call me up and ask me to guest announce with her. Although, I might just pee my pants if that happened.
Totally worth it.
I can totally see you as a game announcer. You would be excellent!
