Through Writing Life...

There's something really beautiful about documenting life.  Through journals, lists, spreadsheets...it's amazing to be able to look back and see all that has happened in only a years time.

Husband and I looked through some spreadsheets last night (spreadsheets really reveal our inner nerd).  We recorded every source of income from our first year of marriage.  You see, we got married almost exactly one year ago and our story has been anything but normal.  This past year has been a journey that has taught us about true trust in the Lord and how things in this world, including money, are not our own.

Our spreadsheets revealed how God has truly provided for us this past year.  How, even though we got married and moved to SLO without any jobs, He provided.  He provided in ways that are crazy to look back on, to see where we were and at the perfect time.  To see how when we didn't know how we were going to make it, and then God provided someone or something along the way, is incredible.

These spreadsheets prove His love for us.  They prove that no matter what life brings us in the future, He will be the God he is today, and the God he was yesterday.  He will provide next year just as He did this first year.  And I want to always remember that.

Our second year of marriage is going to throw us a lot of curve balls.  I just know it.  I need to remember this.  I need to remember how faithful my God has been and how faithful He is to those who love Him.

After looking through our spreadsheets, we couldn't help but feel grateful.  We couldn't help but praise our Lord for all that He has done for our family in just one year.  How much more is He going to do for our family as the years come?  These blessings are only more reasons to praise Him for who He is, was, and will always be.

"But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:30,31

  1. Just found your sweet blog through Year of Less and I am so encouraged to read this happy post. We've had some rough financial times in our 2.5 years of marriage, but God has always provided. I compare it to how He provided enough oil and enough flour for the woman and her sons to keep eating; the pitcher never went dry, the pot never had a bottom. God is good to His children, and sometimes that goodness is so objective!
