We use our cell phones to wake us up in the morning.
We have email to check each day and we rely on the internet for all of our sources of information.
We are a part of so many social networks, it's hard to keep up with each one.
We can watch TV in the evenings and play games on the iPad.
It's almost impossible to live without technology these days.
We knew this was the reality of today, so during our first year of marriage, we knew we had to be intentional (intentional may be one of the most overused "Christian" words, but whatever, it makes sense).
Here are some things we do to make sure our technology doesn't consume us or distract us from our spouse:
- There isn't a TV in our room. Nor will there ever be.
- We don't have cable. It's a lot easier to not sit in front of the tv all evening when you don't have cable! Plus, we can watch all of our favorite shows online!
- We don't bring our laptops to bed with us. Bedtime is a time for us to connect, not to be distracted by the internet.
- We put our cellphones on silent and tucked away during date night. There aren't many things in this world that just can't wait to get a hold of us.
- We pick one night a week for a TV dinner. Every other night is spent around the dinner table.
How about you? How do you intentionally keep technology from distracting you from loved ones?
This is day 13 of the series "31 Days on becoming a new wife." I hope you'll journey with me as I reflect on my first year as a Mrs! Click on the button to see a list of the rest of the posts.

These are great, Cassie! I think the setting aside your phones idea is really important. J and I do the same thing on dates-others can wait. I'm loving seeing all you've learned (:
