Last month, husband and I took a trip to Florida...or the other coast, as we like to call it. My cousin was getting married in West Palm Beach and I hardly ever get to see that side of the family, so we both decided it would be a great excuse to get away for a couple days.
I have to tell you, I don't think I gave Florida the credit it deserves. I do love my California coast, but Florida was really nice and I really loved it! We fortunately did not experience high humidity, so it was almost like west coast weather, but with a warmer ocean - perfect!
The wedding didn't start until the evening, so we had the whole day to hang out by the beach. I ended up burning (apparently the sun in Florida is much harsher than what we experience in California!) and husband got to surf with my cousin, the groom! The surf sucked, but they still had fun getting in the water.
We got to ride a trolley to and from the wedding which was really fun!
I'm actually super against taking photos during wedding ceremonies (that's why they hired a photographer, so you can just enjoy the wedding!), but I did sneak in one quick shot so I could show my family members who couldn't make it.
And this seashell aisle...how fun is that???
It did, however, make for some horrible iPhone photos...but oh well. At least we got a shot with the bride and groom!
The day after the wedding, we connected with our good friend's dad who took us scuba diving. I'm not certified, so I just hung out on the boat puking while husband enjoyed the turtles, fish and sharks in the ocean. I'm really glad he enjoyed himself. :)
We then spent the next couple days being lazy in Vero Beach. Having absolutely nothing to do except enjoy each other and the gorgeous beaches was the perfect way to spend our time off. We both really needed that time together and it was so so good.
We ended up going on an airboat tour to see some Aligators (because it's just something you have to do when you go to Florida) and it was so much fun! I had never done anything like that and our tour guide was pretty awesome. You definitely have to do it at least once!
Our last day in Florida, we headed to St. Petersburg so that we could catch a baseball game. We got there early and spent the day just enjoying the views. We probably could have spent it exploring the city because it seemed like a really fun little-big city, but we decided that busting out the hammock (our Kammok - it's stinkin' awesome!) was a better idea.
A quick, yet perfect time away and it was exactly what we needed.
Now time to plan our next vacation!
