Over Thanksgiving weekend, we celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday and my nieces' 4th birthday (which is actually today). My sister reserved a room at a local pizza parlor and our family, as well as my brother-in-law's family, were all there to celebrate.
I used it as another excuse to practice on my new camera, but let me tell you, the lighting in that place was definitely not ideal, and since then, I've learned a little more about white balance, but for now, you'll see some horrible lighting photos that hopefully tell an adorable birthday party story. It was also a good lesson in making sure to get specific photos at events. I just started snapping away and now as I go through photos, I realized I didn't get a family photo of my sister and her husband two kids at their party - bummer! You live and you learn, folks...
Anyway, my niece could not have been more excited about the princesses and jewelry gifts she received and my nephew said "whoa" to everything from the trains and skateboard to the scrap wrapping paper he got to rip off the boxes. I know I say it a lot, but being an auntie is so great. These kids just slay me.
Happy Birthday to my sweet niece and nephew, Eva and Kai! I love you both so much!

Ohhhh what kind of camera did you get? If you got a DSLR, an off-camera flash is a very good investment :-)
