...and you thought I was done talking about Thanksgiving break! One more thing, friends, then it will be all Christmas...
The kids went on a treasure hunt. It was supposed to be for 4 of my nieces and nephews, but one of my nieces got really scared of the thought of real pirates, so she stayed back. This was the real deal, guys.
My brother-in-law has been telling continuous bedtime stories for months about some dragon that I definitely cannot spell the name of (Falafenschniver?) and some buried treasure. All of the uncles have tried and tried to find the buried treasure at the lake, but have failed. Most likely because kids are so much better at finding buried treasure...but that's just my take on it. So, over Thanksgiving, the uncles finally asked them for help.
After finding a very old map with a series of clues, a boat ride around the lake, a secret island with a teepee made of wood, an X to mark the spot, 15 large pirate steps, and pirate writing on a tree...we found gold! All without waking up Falafenschniver.
To celebrate, we were greeted back at the house with warm hot chocolate.
It was a successful day indeed.
Eureka!
