{Choose Joy}

Joy in the Simplest of Things

Sometimes, life isn't as perfect as you pictured.

But for me, life has turned out better than I could have ever planned.

I get to be married to a man so perfect, I couldn't have ever imagined him.

We have amazing families that love and support us and always will.

We live in a town that is beautiful with many people we love and have grown to deeply care about.

God is good.

But there are a few days, when we sometimes forget about those wonderful and beautiful things, and begin to dwell on what is not perfect.

This week, my husband is working the closing shift at his work all week...

That means 5 lonely nights in our cold condo all by myself.

That means staying up late as I eagerly anticipate him to get off of work only to find myself extra tired in the morning.

That means rushed dinners during his short breaks.

And that means I can cancel my 6 month anniversary surprise for him this Friday.  Boo.

But today, I am choosing to find joy in the simplest of things...

Today, I am going to rejoice in the fact that I get to have a nice and long morning with my husband each day before he goes to work with lots of face time.

Today, I see joy in the flexible schedule a start-up business gives me.

Today, I see joy in sharing breakfast together and relaxing while we drink our tea.

Today, I see joy in getting our workout done at an hour that is not late in the evening or at the crack of dawn (did I tell you we're doing P90X?).

Today, I see joy in spending the time I do get with my husband before he leaves for work in the early afternoon.

Today, I am choosing joy in the schedule that has been given to us this week because I may not have chosen this, but I am grateful for the unique blessings that it brings us.

Thank you, Lord, for the time you have allowed us to spend together this week.
