{Party Time}

Bart's St Patrick's Day Themed 27th Birthday

I have this weird obsession with holidays that aren't typically a big deal.

Ok, actually, I have an obsession with all holidays...but when it comes to the little ones, I love going all out.

Ceasar Chavez, Labor Day, Cinco de Mayo...I love them all!  It was only obvious when I heard St. Patrick's Day fell on the Saturday before the husband's birthday, that a green party was going to happen.

So, I invited some of our friends and got it rollin'!

Our friends' Steve and Emily so graciously offered up their home for the party.  Thanks, guys!

I was hoping to have a backyard-bbq-outdoor games kinda shindig, but turns out, our sunny little town decided to rain for the second time all year.  Oh well!  Luckily, they have a nice big living room area for us to hang out.

In the kitchen, we had a table full of goodies...

...with a banner I just made from scrapbook paper.

I apologize for the empty platter...the power actually went out right when the party was about to start (hense the no-light photos) so the Jalapeno Poppers, courtesy of Steve, were not ready yet.  Insert this deliciousness to photos above...

Mmm...seriously, BOMB DOT COM.  I'm going to need this recipe.

And yes...there was a fruit rainbow.  I found this idea on Pinterest from a kid's party (ha!), and of course, it was Bart's favorite part.

If you look closely at the green grapes, they're actually Leprechaun candy... Muahahaha!

Oh and we had guacamole made by our friend, Nathan.  My husband loves avocados.  Which means he loves guacamole.  Nathan makes the best.  And it's green.  Therefore, I made sure he brought some.  Perfect.

We had this punch that looked totally AWESOME:

I love ice cream.  Especially when I get to put it in my drink.

For dessert, I made some Mint Bailey's Brownie Bites.  I even made the little shamrocks!  An extremely proud moment by yours truly.

Aren't they cute?

And it wouldn't be a birthday party without cake!

I made this Green Velvet Cheesecake all by myself.  Had to make a few phone calls to the sister for some tips, but I did it and it turned out wonderfully!

Here are some of the amazing people that came to the party...

After hanging out, playing a few games, mastering Wii Tennis (the power eventually came back on, yay!) everyone was hungry for dinner.  Originally, I planned for a baked potato bar (you know, potatoes...Irish...get it?), but since the power went out, we couldn't get the oven to light.  Therefore, no way to bake the potatoes.

Fortunately, potatoes taste good many different ways and since we could get the stove to light - mashed potatoes it was!  Emily and I then began making the mashed potatoes. We quickly decided that God actually wanted us to have the potatoes mashed instead, because seriously, the mashed potato bar was a HIT!

We had Chili on the stove, cheese, sour cream, olives, green onions and of course, bacon.

That's my hansom husband stacking up his plate.  He came back for seconds.  It's true.

After dinner, we celebrated some more.

and sang Happy Birthday...

...in Irish accents.

Kidding.  But we should have.  I did, however, manage to get 27 candles on that sucker.

Check out my biceps.  Bulging.  That cake was dense.

And it even looked pretty on the inside!  Yummmmmm.

And that was our little St. Patrick's Day birthday party.

Happy Birthday (again), husband!  I hope you enjoyed it.

I love you!
