{Date Night Last Night: Appuntamento a Quattro}

Double Date with the Meinerts
Italiana

Remember Bart's amazing date night extravaganza last week?  Well this week was my turn to plan the night and I wanted to do something extra special since it was my first one.  The night before, my friend Lindsay texted me asking if I wanted to get together to plan something fun for our husbands.  Of course I wanted to so we ended up deciding to plan a double date night.

I've known Lindsay since 7th grade.  We became best friends and were roommates in college.  We were engaged together and now we're newlyweds together.  She is an amazing woman, wife to Nathan, and friend.

Bart and I hang out with them often.  It's normally a Thursday night ritual to play games or just hang out.  We need our Meinert fix weekly.

Anywho, Lindsay showed up at my place at about noon and we started planning.  We came up with an Italian theme complete with Italian phrases, pizza, music and lights.

We got to work.

We brought the kitchen table into the living room and busted out the fine china.

We put votives in mason jars all over the room and lit the fire to set the mood.

While our husbands were out doing manly things, we gave them a little invitation for the evening.  We made Personal Sized Chocolate Chip Baked Oatmeal with a little note on top (please excuse the spelling error).  Just something to get them excited while we kicked them out of the house.  They were to meet us at 5pm.

So it ended up being 5:30pm.  We needed a little extra time.  But the arrival of the men was a wonderful sight.  They were all dressed up and each brought us a bouquet of flowers.  How cute is this?

The evening was to start out with some red wine, cheese, salami, grapes, and bread with oil and vinegar.  All were devoured.

We made the whole-wheat pizza crust from scratch.  Each taking a turn kneading the dough and slamming it onto the counter (so much fun).  We ended up making it a BBQ Garlic Chicken pizza.  Definitely not Italian...but it turned out quite scrumptious.

We added a green salad.

For dessert, we made cupcakes with some cute little flags on them that we've seen from The Pleated Poppy. Again, not very Italian, but some of the flags and the banner have little European maps on them??

Of course we played some Italian music from trustworthy Pandora Radio.  And Lindsay made that sign in the photo at the top.  Amore ti amo means "I love you, my love."

Once we were all done eating and over stuffed, we cleaned up and the guys busted out Settlers of Catan.  Us four love to play games together so it was inevitable that the evening would end with a game (and a victory for Lindsay!).

In the end, it wasn't very Italian, but the company was amazing, the food was delicious, and we all had an amazing time.

It was fun to serve our husbands together.

We love being married and we love our husbands.

So all is good.

Here are some more fun photos we took throughout the evening...

Oh and don't worry, Bart and I made sure to ask each other our weekly date night questions later in the evening when we were alone.

I love date night.

{What was your favorite double date?}
