{Europe Countdown!}

1 month from today...

I get to go to Europe!!

No, I have never been.  Yes, I am freaking out excited.

My little sister is currently studying abroad in Spain.  When her semester there is done, my mom and I get to fly out and meet her in Barcelona.  We're going to first head to Madrid so she can do a couple assignments she missed while at my brother's graduation, then we'll fly out to Paris, and then end our travels in Italy visiting Venice, Florence and Rome.  Eek!

I took four years of French in high school so my mom and sister are kind of counting on me for the Paris portion of our trip...now is when I wish I had kept up with it since it has now been six years since I was in a French class.  I'm expecting Jamie to be fluent in Spanish so she can get us around Spain and stumble our way through Italy.  You hear that, Jamie?  Expecting.  Ahem.

I am so excited to finally see the things I have learned, read, and heard all about for so long.  To go up the Eiffel tower?  I may faint.  I should also be getting in some stair shape because I want to be hardcore and walk it.  Yes.  All 1,665 steps.  Time to start doing bleachers!  While I'm there I want to eat crepes, baguettes, and escargot (yes, I do), go shopping in the Champ Élysées, see the Louvre, the Moulin Rouge, and so much more!  French nerd alert.  Je suis très excitée!  (I know I'm fancy, I even used the accents.)

In Italy, I can't wait to eat.  Really, I just can't stop thinking about the food.  I read the book Eat, Pray, Love and I know she gained like one million pounds when she was there so I am ready for it.

I am also excited to share with you all of my adventures through writing and pictures while I'm there.  Stay connected beginning July 4th (kind of ironic that I'm leaving the country on our nation's most patriotic day...).  I will be there for a little less than three weeks.

However, I am not looking forward to being away from husband for that long.  Until then, I'm soaking up a lot of together-time and trying to make some freezer meals to help him out when he gets home after a long day of work to an empty apartment.  Boo.

But he is an amazing husband and is letting me join my mom and sister in Europe.  Husband of the year award?  I think so.

{Ever been to Europe?  Any travel advice?}

  1. Ahh, Cassie that's so exciting (:

    I will say that when you're in France, try to talk to the locals in French as much as you can. There was one time we tried to ask someone if they spoke English and he said no and turned away, but when I switched to French and asked him, he answered us in English.

    I hope you have so much fun (:

  2. Thanks, Barbara! Yeah, I've heard they are super nice when you try to speak French to them but are super rude when you assume they speak English. I'm trying to brush up on the necessary phrases and "Do you speak English?" is definitely one of them!
