So I'm sure you've heard of this little thing called the Green Smoothie. It seems to be the new thang and it makes sense because they are sooo good for you. My sister and bro-in-law have an oober fancy blender and make these every morning. When I went to visit them, they made me one and I decided that although they are no Jamba Juice, they are delicious and the healthy aspect of them makes them even more worth it. Husband and I actually really enjoy them and are hoping to drink them more often. Give it a try. Get out of your lots-of-sugar smoothie habit and out of your comfort zone...oh and don't knock it till you try it!
Ingredients:
Spinach
Kale
Chard
1 apple
2 frozen bananas
frozen Strawberries
1/3 cup flaxseed
16 oz water
1. Simply blend all of the ingredients together. For regular blenders, it's best to put the greens at the bottom.
2. If you want to sweeten it up a little bit more, add more berries (you can add any type that you want), this will not give it the green look, but definitely makes it tastier.
3. Make sure you add liquid to the mix. I used water because it won't have any sugar in it, but you can add fruit juices if you want, just be careful since most fruit juices contain extra sugar (yes, even ones that say 100% juice!).
4. Garnish and enjoy being healthy!
