Fact: I love the San Francisco Giants.
I mean, the fact that I like to wear orange on Fridays and loathe (yes, I just said loathe) all sports that breath LA are just a couple things that give it away.
My happy place is AT&T Park and there is no ballpark that compares to it. It's just magical.
So I have this little goal in life. Husband knows it. In fact, I told him when we first started dating so that he knew what he would be in for. Ready for it?
I want to see the Giants play at every ballpark.
*Gasp*
I know, I know...impossible? Maybe. But I'm gonna try.
I mean, I would be happy to just eat a hot dog at every ballpark. In fact, so far, I'm moving a little quicker with that goal than the prior, but if I could see my Giants play in every ballpark? Dream!
Well, husband is wonderful and helps me tackle this dream. When we found out the Giants were traveling to Anaheim this season? (Which, if you don't know anything about baseball, they never do) I knew I couldn't miss it.
Husband took the day off and we drove down to Anaheim to meet my cousin for the game.
Forgive me, but I kind of nerd out when it comes to ballparks. I walk around, look at all the touristy stuff and take all of the must-needed pictures of course, so hang with me here. I swear it's cool!
...and I want to tell you about it...
The first thing you notice when you get to Angel Stadium is the giant A (sorry for the blurry photo). Personally, I think it's kind of weird looking. Is the halo unproportional or is that just me? Whatever. Anyways, the one thing that is cool about it is that it lights up at night when the Angels win. It's sort of a fun way for the community to get excited. I like that.
The main entrance to the stadium has two of these GINORMOUS baseball hats. They're HUGE. (Can you spot the Giants fan?)
My favorite part: the inside of the cap says the legitimate size! So fun.
Every ballpark has a statue. This one is Gene Autry, longtime Angel owner and chairman. Husband decided to shake his hand. Ok, ok, I made him go over there and pose for the picture. Whatever!
And this view is where I thought the "A" redeemed itself a bit. I love how it fits perfectly in the gap.
The stadium all in all is really nice. It looks newer and is clean which is always a plus. I love the waterfall over the rocks in centerfield and two JumboTrons? That's fancy.
They have fireworks for every Angels homerun (well, actually, I learned they have 7 loaded so if there are 8 homeruns in a game, that last guy doesn't get any) and the bullpen is way out in left field. The away team is really far from their dugout, but I'm sure you don't really care about that.
I had my Angel Dog. Not too shabby. Definitely beats a Dodger Dog, but still not as good as a Giants Dog. I'm not sure if any dog will beat a Giants Dog, except for maybe a Fenway Frank. I hear those are KILLER. We'll see about that...
Still a little weird to see this guy in Anaheim...
This is my cousin, Anne, and her man. They're little boy is due next month! Doesn't she look great? Love that she is rocking
the Giants and the Angels. I guess when your two favorite teams play
each other you win no matter what the outcome!
Did you make it this far? Thanks for bearing with me and my baseball obsession. I hope you can learn to appreciate America's favorite pasttime half as much as I do!
Nothing like summer without a little baseball.
And if you're wondering what the score of the game was. We don't need to talk about that...
Thanks hubby for helping me check another stadium off the list! You da bestests.
{What's a crazy life goal that you have?}
Oh and you wanna know something ironic? ESPN is having a Battle of the Ballparks bracket and guess who is in for the championship? AT&T Park! This means you need to go vote for our Giants home here. Go!
This is awesome! I think my craziest goal is to visit each continent. Though leaving out Antarctica wouldn't make me sad.
ReplyDeletehaha! Totally! That would be really awesome to say you've been to each continent, but I'm not sure what you would do in Antarctica...
