When I was in high school, I had an amazing Bible study leader. I met Emily the summer before my sophomore year and have been close with her ever since. She was always so intentional with us girls and was never afraid to ask the hard questions. She made herself available and really showed us that she cared whether it was with notes, texts, coffee dates, or during our Bible study. She plays a huge role in my testimony and I am so grateful for her. Here is a picture of our small group at camp circa 2003...
And this is us now...
At Bible study, she always brought us girls a treat. She would bake cookies, brownies, cakes, you name it. But all of us favored one of her treats. Apparently, they are originally Special K Bars, but these weren't made with Special K cereal and the measurements are a little different, so we decided to name them ourselves. After a lot of laughter and a much longer story, we came up with "Dookies." Now, you don't have to call them dookies, as I'm sure that sounds really weird to you, but to me and my girlfriends from high school, they will forever be called dookies.
But regardless of the name, you will love these. I brought them to my current Bible study and everyone loved them. They are super easy and please a crowd. The only problem is it's really hard not to hoard them all to yourself...
What You'll Need:
2. Cook on high, stirring often.
3. Once it begins to boil, remove it from the heat and add the peanut butter.
4. Stir the peanut butter until it is mixed through.
5. Then add the rice krispies.
6. And mix those until they are mixed through.
7. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13" pan.
8. Press the mixture into the pan until it is flat. You will need to use your hands for this, so get them wet so you won't burn yourself.
9. In a medium sauce pan, melt the chocolate chips and the butterscotch chips on low heat.
10. Stir constantly. This may take awhile, but be patient because chocolate can burn very easily.
11. Stir until the chips are all melted together and it looks like this.
12. Pour the melted chips on top of your rice krispies mixture and let it cool until the chocolate hardens. You can let it sit out for a few hours, or to speed up the process, you can put them in the fridge (if you put it in the fridge, make sure you take it out at least an hour before you serve it, otherwise they will get too hard).
13. Cut into squares and try not to eat too many at once.
umm holy yum. I need to try these! Thanks for sharing!
