62 Years

Today, my beautiful grandparents are celebrating 62 years of marriage (you met them when I shared my trip to Oregon on Labor Day).

62 years of wedded bliss.  Does it get any better than this?

When we were up visiting, we sat down and tried to count all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren they have.  We started to get confused because there were so many - I can't even recall the number!  My grandpa said that at the last family gathering, he sat and observed how many people were there and all he thought to himself was, "Wow, I'm responsible for all of this?!"  Ha!  I love it.

Being able to spend some time with them recently was a true blessing to husband and I.  Since we are now married, I think we pay attention more or something.  It was so encouraging to see how much they love each other after all of these years.  How Grampa does everything he can to care for Gramma.  How Gramma still sits and listens to Grampa's stories patiently even though I'm sure she has heard every last one of them a bajillion times.

They love each other deeper than I think most of us can imagine.  At least, until we've been married for that long, then we'll understand.

Aren't they adorable?

This is from our guest book from our wedding.  I was impressed with their photobooth skills, aren't you?  And in case you can't read the note, it reads:  "Granddaughter and our new Grandson, Have a wonderful life as we have.  Gramma and Grampa W."

Seriously.  Cutest grandparents of the century?  I think so.

Happy 62nd Anniversary, Gramma and Grampa!  We are amazed at your love for each other.  You two are incredible role models in true love and commitment.  We love you!
