The photo above is somewhat deceiving. I mean, we have been eating a lot of pancakes since a giant bag of pancake mix is one of the few things left around here, but it looks like we still have everything in our house. This is simply because to me, the kitchen should be the very last thing to pack. I mean, we've been sleeping on an air mattress because our bed is in storage, I'm currently sitting on the floor with a blanket because we already took away our couch, but those jars of jam displayed in our kitchen? Those can stay for now. Maybe it's because I spend a lot of time at home and in the kitchen in general, but that's pretty much the only room in the house that hasn't been destroyed.
The timing of all this packing is not exactly ideal in some sense either. I love Christmas and always love a decorated home to spend time in during those cold nights, but our empty, couchless apartment didn't exactly do the trick during the past four rainy days we had here. I'm wanting to enjoy the last couple of weeks in this town, but I can't help but get excited to be back in the Bay Area in a home that has a tree with lights on it and garland going up the stairs. I can't wait to be able to spend this time with family.
Heck...I can't wait to live near these little cuties that I love so much...
I mean, how can I even be slightly nostalgic of leaving this town when I get to see these kids on a regular basis?!
And even my other niece (and soon-to-be born nephew) will be only 2 hours away instead of 5!
It's going to be good. And the wait is going to be so worth sitting in this empty apartment that smells like paint from us patching up holes.
I'm so looking forward to this next adventure and I feel so blessed to be able to do this.
I need to focus on what is to come instead of the non-decorated and bare apartment I am currently living in. It's all about perspective I guess...
