Our Winter

It's funny how everything seems to be about perspective.

People in the midwest tell us Californians that we "don't know what 'cold' is."  Where as those in Alaska might tell someone in the midwest that they "don't know what 'cold' is."

It's funny how we Californians will freak out about 50 degree weather, while other parts of the country are hoping to hit the double digits.

But you know what?  When someone from the midwest or anywhere else that it snows moves out here, it doesn't take them long before they think that 50 degrees is cold, too.

You see, when you've gotten used to below 0 degree weather, of course 50 degrees sounds like t-shirt weather - it is so much warmer!  The same goes for when you are used to 80 degree weather and it becomes 50 degrees, it will make you want to put on a heavy coat.

It's all about perspective.

And you know what?  We "wimps" out here in California?  We have every right to complain about our "cold" 50 degree weather.

You know why?

Because we never take our beautiful 70-something degree weather for granted.  Even though it is often.

The past few days have been gorgeous.  It's February, it's still technically winter, and usually it's raining this time of year, but the past few days have been in the upper 60s and it's been beautiful.

And every time I was outside, I heard someone say, "Man, it's a beautiful day today!"

You see, we know we have it good out here.  We love it and we do our best not to take it for granted.

We love living in a state that you can wear tank tops in February and excersize outside all year long.

So when it gets a little bit cold for our taste?  Please understand, that we have every right to say that it is indeed cold for us.

This is our winter.

Plus, we pay a pretty penny to be able to live in this beautiful state.  But that's another story...

Today, I'm going to be thankful that I get to live in a place as beautiful as this and for the sunshine God has blessed us with the past few days.

Life is good.
