...On Being Their Biggest Fan.

We're big fans.

I just love being a fan in general.  It's a huge reason why I studied Sports Management in college.  I just loved being a fan and everything that comes with it.

There's nothing like celebrating your favorite team win a championship.  And it doesn't get any better than getting to be right there in the moment.  It's just plain exciting and everyone bonds over one similar passion...your team.

Husband and I have considered ourselves a team since the day we met.  Literally.  We were placed as group partners for a project in college and after introducing ourselves, we called each other teammates.  We never stopped being a team.  In fact, I'd say we bumped ourselves up from the minor league to the major league when we got married.  Booyah!

We talked about always being each others' biggest fan and advocate in life.  I never knew how important that would become until we got married.

It's actually really sad how often I hear women complain about their husbands.  It's as if they need a reason to complain, and their husband is the easiest target.  I hate it.  However, I do understand how easy that can be.  How easy it is to choose the person you love the most and nitpick on every little thing when you're in a crowd that encourages complaining.  But it's draining.  It is not fulfilling and it doesn't lift up those that you love and it's definitely not being their biggest fan.

This year we both have made a huge effort to not complain to others about each other, to always lift each other up and speak highly of each other.  I mean, we did choose to get married!

And it's so exciting to be right there in the action when things do go well for your team.  When you succeed as a team, you can't help but celebrate!

It's exciting.  It's fun.  And the happiness is contagious.

We were a team when we first met, but became a whole new kind of team when we committed to doing this forever.

And I want to be a loyal fan to this team.  Our team.

You could say I'm my husband's biggest fan. :)

Oh, and I'm also a big fan of this beard...

So hot right now.

  1. Hi Cassie,
Can't remember how I stumbled on your blog, but I've been reading for a couple of months and love it. My husband, Adam and I were married 9/24/12, so just right around the same time as y'all.

Anyways, I particularly love your 31 days series, and this one about being each other's biggest fans really resonated with me. Thanks for posting so often this month--I know it's a bit of a challenge to come up with so many days in a row!
